Less than a month away until the highly anticipated Suicide Squad drops on Aug 5, 2016 in theaters. Are you excited? I know I am. With the release of the movie only a few weeks away new information and details about the plot have been dropped about the movie via Entertainment Weekly. One of the more interesting reveals is that The Joker will not only show up in flashback sequences of Harley Quinn's origin but he will also be appearing in present-day sequences throughout the movie but not as the antagonist of the movie (As I predicted Enchantress will be the antagonist). In fact, the Joker could care less about the Suicide Squad's task as he has a mission of his own (according to Entertainment Weekly).
Throwing a wrench into all these plans (of the Suicide Squad) is the tatted Gotham City arch-criminal, the Joker (Jared Leto), and his laser-like plan to reunite with his true love, Harley, mission be damned.
Now historically it has always been Harley Quinn chasing Joker despite his abusive nature. It always appeared that Joker only kept Harley around as she was blindly loyal despite how he treated her.
With that said you have to keep in mind that Suicide Squad the movie is loosely inspired by Batman: Assault on Arkham. In this movie while Harley was with the Squad she hooked up Deadshot.
Deadshot And Joker's Girl
You would think with the way Joker treats Harley that he would be glad to have her dealing with another guy. But as in most abusive relationships it is a little bit more complicated than that.
Harley Tries To Kill Her Pudding
Even prison can't keep these guys from fighting. As you can see Joker and Harley really need couples counseling. Joker is bragging about abusing Harley and Harley is bragging about cheating on Joker. This is truly a dysfunctional relationship. And what comes next is the point of my of my entire theory.
Joker gets jealous. And in his jealousy Joker says he will replace Harley with another Harley! Of course, as he is planning on replacing her he realizes that even in her madness and anger directed towards him she was not actually trying to kill him, but trying to help. That's right, through all of that drama Harley is helping the Joker break out of prison.
Now, obviously Suicide Squad the movie will not follow the Assault on Arkham storyline, but I believe David Ayer is pulling ideas from the animated movie. And I know some may still not be convinced that Joker is actually jealous of Harley and Deadshot hooking up, but trust me he was truly feeling some mixed emotions about not being the pudding in Harley's eye.
Joker Confronts Deadshot About Harley
Joker obviously has some jealousy issues historically. The question I have is will his jealously of Deadshot and Harley in the movie be the reason Joker is on a mission to get his true love back?
