You've seen her before. She has starred in just about every recent horror film. Vera Farmiga is best known for her role in The Conjuring and The Conjuring II as paranormal investigator, Lorraine Warren.

Then again, maybe you don't recognize her from shielding your eyes and hiding under the covers.

Farmiga is slowly becoming the Queen of Horror. She has the unique skill to bring out the scared little kid in all of us. Her performances in horror films are creating a steady stream of wickedness that has become impossible to ignore. Farmiga has definitely made her mark in this field, making her the new face of the genre.

So, it seems only fitting that Farmiga join one of the most disturbing shows on television: American Horror Story.

Season 6 of the terrifying series is set to premiere on September 14th. Information regarding the upcoming season is uniquely tight-lipped this year. Who knows, maybe Farmiga is already in the mix?

With her ferocious eyes and her intense ability to send chills down our spines, it seems like a no-brainer that adding Farmiga to the cast would be a mark of pure genius. Here's why we think Vera Farmiga would make a great addition to American Horror Story.

5. Her Epic Horror Background

Farmiga has a long list of horror films on her resume. In 2007, she played Abby Cairn, the mother of the sinister boy Joshua, in what seems to be a grossly underrated horror film. In 2009 she adopted a psychotic Orphan, which illuminates her unwavering ability to create suspense with the characters she portrays. Not to mention her unforgettable performance in The Conjuring films.

Farmiga can also be seen in The Departed with Leo DiCaprio, Up in the Air with George Clooney, and The Judge with Robert Downey, Jr. Talk about impressive credentials.

4. Her Role As 'Mother'

She's also been doing a KILLER job playing our favorite psycho, Norman Bates's mother, Norma Bates (a.k.a Mother). Sadly, the Bates Motel series is coming to end. The final season is set to premiere in March of next year. On the bright side, this gives Farmiga an opening to do another horror series (hint, hint).

American Horror Story creator, Ryan Murphy has confirmed that Season 6 will be centered around a theme with children. Farmiga has already shown us her outstanding performance alongside children in nearly all of her films, which would make her an amazing addition to the new season.

3. Farmiga Vs. Gaga

Could you just imagine? Who wouldn't love to see these two go head-to-head in the new season? Two incredibly fierce and strong-willed badasses could set an exhilarating scene for the mysterious new season.

AHS has confirmed the return of Lady Gaga for Season 6, along with a short list of other stars set to reappear. We can only hope the reason behind this secretive cast list is because Farmiga will be making her debut on the show.

2. She's A Jack-Of-All-Trades

Farmiga has starred in numerous critically acclaimed films and television shows. Each character she portrays highlights her extensive aptitude as an actress, whether it's for horror, comedy, or drama. Check out this hilarious clip of Farmiga's "audition" for Bates Motel.

1. It Runs In The Family

That's right. Vera Farmiga's little sister is Taissa Farmiga, an AHS alumnae. Taissa played Violet Harmon in the first season of American Horror Story: Murder House. She returned to the show again in Coven as the main protagonist, Zoe Benson.

Although so far it seems that Taissa will not be making a reappearance in AHS, horror fans wouldn't be disappointed in seeing another Farmiga on the show.
