Many of our favorite MCU actors and actresses have also taken their talents to the DC landscape. Here are 12 of them that took DC by storm!
1. Josh Brolin
Yup, Thanos himself appeared in a DC Comics movie! Josh Brolin starred alongside Megan Fox in 2010’s Jonah Hex. He portrayed the anti-hero Hex himself. Unfortunately, the film was negatively praised and heavily failed at the box office. With just a $47 million dollar production budget, the film only earned a total of $10.9 million dollars.
2. Natalie Portman
Before becoming Jane Foster in the first two Thor movies, Natalie Portman portrayed Evey Hammond in 2006’s V for Vendetta. Based on DC Comic’s Vertigo imprint’s graphic novel of the same name, V for Vendetta tells the story of V, an anti-hero with a terrorist plot to destroy the British parliament building.
3. Hugo Weaving
The Red Skull also starred in V for Vendetta, as the mysterious V! The film did extremely well in the box office, earning a worldwide total of $132.5 million dollars, with a production budget of just $54 million dollars.
4. Tilda Swinton
The great Tilda Swinton appeared in 2005’s Constantine. Starring alongside Keanu Reeves, the MCU’s Ancient One portrayed the angel, Gabriel.
5. Djimon Hounsou
Guardians of the Galaxy’s Korath also appeared in Constantine! He portrayed the shaman Papa Midnite. Constantine is based on DC Comic’s Vertigo imprint’s Hellblazer comic book.
6. Jon Bernthal
You probably didn’t know that Daredevil's Punisher voiced the demonic entity, Trigon, in DC’s animated movie, Justice League vs. Teen Titans! Trigon is the father of Teen Titan member, Raven. He is also the ruler of the realm, Azarath.
7 - 9. The Losers: Zoe Saldana, Chris Evans and Idris Elba
Yup, Gamora, Captain America and Heimdall all starred in 2010’s The Losers. Based on DC Comics’ Vertigo imprint comic of the same name, The Losers tell the story of several special ops soldiers who on the verge of completing a mission, are betrayed by the CIA.
10 - 12. The Amazonians: Rosario Dawson, Cobie Smulders and Adrianne Palicki
That’s right, nurse Claire Temple, Maria Hill and Mockingbird have all portrayed the iconic Wonder Woman! Daredevil's Rosario Dawson has voiced Diana Prince/Wonder Woman on the animated movies Justice League: Throne of Atlantis and Justice League vs. Teen Titans. She also voiced the Amazonian, Artemis of Bana-Mighdall, in the 2009 Wonder Woman animated movie. Cobie Smulders also lent her voice to the Amazonian princess in 2014’s The Lego Movie. Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’s Adrianne Palicki portrayed a live-action Wonder Woman in a 2011 Wonder Woman pilot. The pilot was never picked up by a network and made into a series.
- Cobie Smulders also portrayed the characters Shannon Bell and Eve Andrews in the episode, “Bound,” of Season 4 of the CW’s Smallville.
Guardians of the Galaxy’s Chris Pratt voiced a character named Jake in an episode of the cartoon, The Batman.
- Thor: Ragnarok director, Taika Waititi, portrayed the character Thomas Kalmaku in 2011’s Green Lantern.
