With the annual San Diego Comic-Con coming incredibly soon, most fans and geeks are awaiting the behemoth of announcements and surprises that are to be unveiled by their favorite comic book, movie, TV show, and gaming companies. With less than a week until SDCC officially starts, it seems that Marvel Studios' very own James Gunn just couldn't wait until then, got a little antsy, and decided to share a little glimpse into his current project.
Oh, y'know, that little project named Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2? The successor to the wildly successful Guardians of the Galaxy? Maybe you've heard of it?
Well, Entertainment Weekly's provided our first good look at the sequel to one of Marvel Studios's best films yet thanks to a newly released piece of concept art.
We see the return of our classic ensemble featuring Star-Lord, Drax, Groot (In baby form!), Rocket Racoon and Gamora alongside a few of additions to the group, including Yondu Udonta, the leader of the Ravagers, and former villain Nebula. Best of all, the art introduces the MCU's latest cosmic hero Mantis, who will be played by Pom Klementieff!
When asked about the newest addition to the Guardians of the Galaxy, producer Jonathan Schwartz had the following to say about the antennae-wearing alien:
"She has never really experienced social interaction. Everything she learns about dealing with people, she learns from the Guardians of the Galaxy, which is a very weird group to learn your social intricacies from."
As if this awesome piece of concept art wasn't enough, it can also be physically hung up on your wall! According to EW, this specific piece of concept art will be released to the attendees of this year's San Diego Comic-Con.
So, be a pal, and grab me one would 'ya? That'd be great. It'll make me do a happy dance.
