Warning: This article contains spoilers from Absolutely Fabulous: The Movie. If you haven't seen it then you may want to go back to the previous page, sweetie.
Edina and Patsy have made a daring jump to the big screen in the all new motion picture that sees the pair take on their biggest challenge yet. Absolutely Fabulous: The Movie is full of hilarious one-liners and more celebrity cameos than you can imagine.
The film is like an extended episode with a much bigger budget and many more characters — most notably a standout performance from Chris Colfer, who plays Edina's hair stylist, Christopher — but with so much going on what moments stuck out the most? Let's take a look, sweetie, at the greatest moments from the most fabulous movie of the year.
1. Edina Kills Kate Moss?
If Jennifer Saunders was going to make the transition from TV to film successfully, then Absolutely Fabulous: The Movie was going to have to be bigger, better and, quite frankly, more fabulous than anything we've seen before. She succeeded, as the movie is full of celebrity cameos including fashion icon Kate Moss.
When Edina hears that Kate Moss has sacked her PR, she makes it her mission to acquire Kate as her client. When Patsy manages to distract actor Jon Hamm, Edina makes a beeline for Kate — unfortunately it doesn't go as planned and Kate ends up falling off the balcony. Oops! Edina becomes the most hated woman in the country, but she's finally got the fame that she always wanted — so it's not all bad, right?
2. Patsy And Edina On The Plane
After Patsy and Edina agree to flee the country, they board an airplane — the flight attendants are played by none other than Rebel Wilson and Rylan Clarke-Neal. In a scene reminiscent from an earlier episode of the series, Patsy and Edina cause a stir and Patsy sets off the alarm when she lights a cigarette in the bathroom.
Rebel Wilson's character is fed up with Patsy and proceeds to taser her. Patsy lets the taser run through her body, but it has little to no effect on her — in fact, she rather enjoys the experience. Outrageous, right?
3. Patsy Marries Lubliana
In an attempt to fleece money from a little old lady called Lubliana — played by Vicious' Marcia Warren — who also happens to be the richest woman in the world, Patsy dresses up as a man and goes by the alias Pat Stone. It's a hilarious moment that had the movie theater audience in stitches.
Patsy maintains her alias for several scenes in the film and marries the rich woman. What's perhaps even funnier is that later in the film, she keeps the mustache but goes back to her feminine clothing — only Patsy could get away with something like that!
4. Edina And Patsy Flee The Police
When the authorities get wind of the fact that Edina has fled the country they begin to search for her. Edina and Patsy make their getaway and steal an extremely small food van. The police begin to chase the pair in what is arguably the funniest scene in the movie — Patsy even manages to steal a cigarette from a passerby while inside the getaway van.
Unfortunately the brake comes loose and the car begins sliding down the countryside hill until they land in nearby water. Talk about a fabulous exit!
5. Edina's Heartfelt Moment With Saffy
Edina's relationship with Saffy has never been great — even if you'd only ever seen one episode of the TV series, it was obvious that the pair never got along. However, as Edina sits next to Patsy inside the mini-van, which is now sinking, she realizes that Saffy was right — everything has always been about her and she's sorry for not paying more attention, for not being a good mother. It's a rare moment and something that we never had much of an opportunity to see on the show.
The pair exchange a heartfelt "I love you" before Bubble announces that Kate Moss is not dead. Edina is raging because she poured her heart out for nothing. Oh well, it was nice while it lasted!
Absolutely Fabulous: The Movie is filled to the brim with celebrity cameos, top shelf humor and everything else that made the hit TV series great. Although it took a little time to get used to the absence of the audience laughter that was such a key feature in the series, Absolutely Fabulous: The Movie is most certainly worth the price of a movie ticket. For the lack of a better word: It was fabulous.
