With a new look at Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War released by Ironhead Studios, I decided to look back at how Thanos affected has affected the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the past. While we may have only seen him sit in that chair (like, really, you need to stand up at some point!), there has been some theories that point to Thanos being directly involved in Avengers: Age of Ultron. Today, we're going to talk about that evidence and what that means for the MCU. Ready?

The Mid-Credits Scene

During this mid-credits scene, Thanos puts on the Infinity Gauntlet and says this line.

Fine, I'll do it myself.

This is strange because he apparently had nothing to do with Avengers: Age of Ultron, so why would he suddenly decide to do it himself? Could he have possibly had a hand in creating Ultron? Let's look at another scene in Avengers: Age of Ultron.

Avengers Argument

There's some interesting dialogue here between Bruce and Tony.

Tony, maybe this might not be the time.
Really? That's it. You just roll over, show your belly every time somebody snarls.
Only when I've created a murder bot!
We didn't. We weren't even close. Were we close to an interface?

Now, that's weird, isn't it? Tony admits that they were no where close to getting Ultron up and running. How could this have just suddenly happened? And, also, why was Ultron trying to kill them if they made him? Here's how the theory goes.

Thanos put a virus into the Mind Stone so that Ultron would be created.

This would make sense because the Avengers have been Thanos's only competition. Plus, he might be able to grab the Mind Stone from Earth when it's been destroyed. His first plan was to get Loki to beat him, but he lost. This could have been his back up plan in case he lost. Also, why would he just freely give up one of his Infinity Stones if he knew that he could just give Loki some other weapon? He also had access to the Mind Stone, hoping someone would find it and experiment with it. Thankfully, the Avengers beat Ultron, causing Thanos to finally "do it [himself]."

Now, I want to hear what you think. Do you think Thanos put a virus into the Mind Stone?
