Apart from announcing Ghost Rider at San Diego Comic-Con, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. producer, Jed Whedon, teased the return of two of our favorite show characters. Those characters being Bobbi Morse and Lance Hunter. Let's dive into four ways they could return in this upcoming fourth Season of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

The Agents’ Farewell

What was probably the most emotional scene in all of Season 3 (even over Lincoln’s death in the finale), was Bobbi and Hunter’s farewell scene. They were caught in the act during a mission in Russia, and to save S.H.I.E.L.D. and the US government from entering a second Cold War, they resigned completely from the agency.

This moment in the season was heartbreaking, while at the same time fascinating, because it perfectly set up the scenario where the series Marvel’s Most Wanted would have started. Unfortunately, the series never took off. So, with two of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’s most dynamic and beloved characters gone, what are some possible ways the duo could return?

1. Searching For Daisy | “6 Months Later”

With Daisy going rogue after the events of Season 3’s finale, S.H.I.E.L.D. is going to need all the help they can get to apprehend her. Two former agents perfect for the mission are Bobbi and Hunter, especially since Daisy won’t expect them coming. Alternatively, Daisy could in fact be working with Bobbi and Hunter since they are not with S.H.I.E.L.D. anymore. Either Daisy could have formed her own team of vigilantes, or she could have come in contact and allied herself with the former agents. One thing is for sure, she can’t possibly be doing what she’s doing alone.

2. A.I.M. In Season 4

In the article “Who Will Be The New Villain In 'Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.' Season 4?,” we discussed how A.I.M. could be a potential new threat next season. If this should be the case, then why not suggest that after the events that transpired in Russia, both Bobbi and Hunter went undercover for then-S.H.I.E.L.D.-director Phil Coulson? Their missions could have included spying on the organization A.I.M., which we haven’t heard of since Iron Man 3. We could then see them return, as well as formally introducing A.I.M. to Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

3. Life Model Decoys

In the article “Season 4: Who Will Return To 'Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.' As LMDs?,” we discussed some possible old faces that could return as androids to the show. Why not add Bobbi and Hunter to the mix? This could be a way they could return and no one would necessarily know that they are actually robots. The LMDs will definitely be a huge part of the show, as it’s being currently promoted by the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. official twitter page.

4. The New S.H.I.E.L.D. Director Wants Mockingbird

We still don’t know who the new director of S.H.I.E.L.D. is, but speculation hints that it could be Melinda May, among other candidates. If it is Agent May, then we could potentially see her bringing back Bobbi, but not Hunter, precisely. We know that Agent May deeply respected Bobbi and admired her skills as portrayed on the show, but the same can't be said for Hunter. If the new S.H.I.E.L.D. director wants someone in the team without the agency having any knowledge about it — a form of secret spy perhaps — then Bobbi best fits the job. Potentially, it could eventually make her adopt her comic book moniker: Mockingbird.

Do you want Bobbi and Hunter back for Season 4 of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.? What are some other possible ways they could return? Leave it down in the comments!
