The critically-acclaimed actor, producer and director, Vin Diesel, just announced the release of the first trailer for his upcoming film xXx: The Return of Xander Cage. The trailer will release this week via the star’s official Facebook page. Check out the teaser below.
A Brief History Of The xXx Franchise
A year after Vin Diesel’s The Fast and the Furious hit theaters and dominated the box office, his next original installment, xXx, had the same results. Premiering in 2002, xXx tells the story of Xander Cage, a stuntman turned field agent for the NSA who has to undergo a dangerous mission in Russia. The film had massive success at the worldwide box office, earning a whopping $277.4 million with a production budget of only $70 million. With an overall positive critical reception, the movie soon received a sequel. The sequel, xXx: State of the Union, told the story of another undercover spy, this time played by actor and rapper Ice Cube. Unlike its predecessor, State of the Union received an overall negative reception and underscored at the box office.
The Return Of Xander Cage
According to Vin Diesel's official Instagram page, xXx: The Return of Xander Cage is planned to premiere on January 20, 2017. Along with Vin Diesel, confirmed cast include Donnie Yen, Tony Jaa, Samuel L. Jackson and Reggaeton singer Nicky Jam. xXx: The Return of Xander Cage is part of Vin Diesel’s 2017 set of films with Fast 8 and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.
