Nowadays it seems like every successful actor is somehow part of a superhero franchise. From Chris Hemsworth in the Thor films to Chris Evans as Captain America, superhero franchises are a huge factor in the careers of Hollywood's best.
The Marvel Cinematic Universe itself is full of very talented and popular actors, but there's still room for a bunch of great actors to join this powerhouse of a franchise. Here are my top eight picks of actors who I think would feel right at home in the MCU.
1. Christoph Waltz
Christoph Waltz is definitely one of the top names in Hollywood right now. The two time Academy Award-winner is known for playing the bad guys in films, and I believe he could be an amazing Marvel villain. I mean, he was a Bond villain last year and this year he was the bad guy in The Legend of Tarzan.
Let's be honest, Marvel needs some more outstanding villains, because so far there hasn't been that many. I am sure Waltz could change that with his performance. I can see him take on Norman Osborn/Green Goblin or maybe Modok.
2. Javier Bardem
Similarly, Javier Bardem is known for his outstanding performances, especially as the bad guy. Everyone who has seen Skyfall knows what I'm talking about. His crazy and psychotic performance was the highlight of that film. And he could be another great pick for a villain in the MCU.
I believe he could deliver a pretty epic and unforgettable performance as maybe Doctor Octopus, who is a fan-favorite Spider-Man villain. And I would love to see him share the big screen with the other Marvel actors.
3. Charlize Theron
This woman can pretty much do anything. She can portray anything from crazy and funny to badass. Everyone who has seen her in Mad Max : Fury Road knows how fierce she can be and I think she would have great chemistry with the Marvel cast. Can you imagine her hanging out with RDJ on set or with former Snow White and The Huntsman co-star Chris Hemsworth?
There are a variety of amazing and badass female characters from the comics she could play. She could take on fierce characters as She-Hulk or maybe even Enchantress. I definitely think the MCU could use more strong leading ladies and she would be a great choice for that.
4. Jessica Chastain
Jessica Chastain was another fan-favorite for Captain Marvel. She is another great example of a badass woman in Hollywood who can take on pretty much anything from action to drama. Besides, she has already worked with a bunch of actors from Marvel, such as Chris Hemsworth in The Huntsman: Winter's War earlier this year, Sebastian Stan in The Martian and Tom Hiddleston in Crimson Peak last year.
5. Taron Egerton
He is a newbie in Hollywood but has already worked with some big names, including Tom Hardy, Colin Firth and Hugh Jackman. I think Egerton could bring something new and different to the table. He is a fresh face and Marvel could be the next big step for him as an actor.
In last year's Kingsman: The Secret Service he was the funny and witty main character with a lot of heart. And he did a great job next to top actors like Samuel L. Jackson. I think Marvel could need some new blood and Egerton could be an interesting choice. I personally would love to see him in the Spiderman franchise next to Tom Holland. Harry Osborn could be an interesting option for the young actor.
6. Chloe Grace Moretz
This girl is only 19 years old but has been working in the industry longer than many other, much older actors. I think by now we all know how awesome Moretz is judging from her role as Hitgirl in the 2010 flick Kick-Ass.
Since then, she has played a variety of different characters in many different genres. She was the main character in the drama If I Stay and earlier this year she starred as Cassie Sullivan in the sci-fi flick The 5th Wave. I think she could be a good fit for the MCU and maybe represent a new and younger generation of heroes.
7. John Boyega
John Boyega was one of the biggest breakout stars of last year. He is a part of the new Star Wars franchise and an absolute joy to watch both on and off screen. Not only is he a good actor, he also comes across as an extremely likable guy who is always nice and funny in interviews. Marvel is known for its relatable actors and Boyega has proven that he can be both funny while remaining an action star.
8. Katherine McNamara
I have a specific reason for putting her on this list. McNamara is probably best known for her role in Shadowhunters, which premiered earlier this year. She is the main character of the fantasy show and does a good job. The reason she is on my list is that she would definitely be my absolute No. 1 pick for Mary-Jane Watson. Not only does she look like the perfect M.J, she is also a fan-favorite for the part. She has even said herself that she would love to play the role in an upcoming film and I think she is perfect for that.
Who do you think would be a great pick for the MCU? Let me know in the comments below.
