You can't deny that there's nothing quite like a good comedy movie to get your giggle on, and that's just as well considering Hollywood is pretty good at churning out some decent humor once in a while.

Whether you're into endearing chick-flicks, dramedies or films that simply make you go "LOL WTF!?," there's something out there for everyone. So with that being said, here are the new comedy movies coming soon, as well as the upcoming ones to look out for later in 2017. Enjoy!

The plot centers on two unlikely lifeguards (Johnson and Efron) who vie for positions to patrol the coasts of California but let's be real, you're not exactly going to be watching this one for the storyline.

  • Release date: June 16, 2017
  • Cast: Scarlett Johansson, Zoë Kravitz, Kate McKinnon, Ilana Glazer, Demi Moore, Jillian Bell
  • Director: Lucia Aniello

We loved The Hangover and Bridesmaids, and that's why it was only a matter of time before Hollywood churned out another black comedy movie of that ilk. Out in June 2017, Rough Night will hopefully be one of the funniest flicks to come out this year.

Starring a slew of high-profile leading ladies such as Scar Jo, Zoë Kravitz and Ilana Glazer, it sees a group of five best friends from college reuniting ten years later for a wild bachelorette weekend in Miami. However, when one of their hired strippers accidentally dies, things swiftly go tits up. If you want to laugh until your sides split, this is one of the best upcoming releases for you.

6. Despicable Me 3

  • Release date: June 30, 2017
  • Cast: Steve Carell, Kristen Wig, Trey Parker
  • Directors: Pierre Coffin, Kyle Balda

The Despicable Me juggernaut returns for the third time, with Gru once again coming head-to-head with another rival — this time Balthazar Bratt, a former child star who grows up to become obsessed with the role he played in the '80s.

The Universal Pictures' release will undoubtedly become one of this summer's biggest blockbusters, adored by kids and adults alike.

  • Release date: June 30, 2017
  • Cast: Will Ferrell, Allison Tolman, Amy Poehler
  • Director: Andrew Jay Cohen

Considering Amy Poehler and Will Ferrell are two of the world's funniest people, we're all pretty excited for The House, one of 2017's greatly anticipated new releases.

After their characters accidentally spend their daughter's entire college fund, parents Scott and Kate Johansen resort to starting an illegal casino in their basement to get the money back. Good idea? Probably not.

4. The Emoji Movie

  • Release date: July 28, 2017
  • Cast: T.J. Miller, James Corden, Anna Faris, Maya Rudolph, Steven Wright, Jennifer Coolidge, Patrick Stewart, Jake T. Austin
  • Director: Tony Leondis

I bet you never though this day would come but we will soon be getting a movie about ideograms that are usually reserved for when you're too lazy to type actual words into WhatsApp or Facebook.

The plot of The Emoji Movie is as follows: Three emojis embark on a riveting adventure through a smartphone to save their little world from deletion. Admittedly, the premise makes this a rather unconventional addition to 2017's list of new and upcoming comedy movies, but considering the dialogue in the newly released trailer above is nothing short of hilarious, it could well be worth a trip to the cinema.

3. Kingsman: The Golden Circle

Comedy action flick Kingsman: The Secret Service is also swooping into theatres in the next few months and Taron Egerton and Colin Firth are forced to take action once more when an attack on their headquarters occurs. And with a new villain to battle, Eggsy is made to work with an American spy agency to ensure the world can sleep safely once more.

Considering how well the last one did, the sequel could turn out to be one of the best comedy movies dropping this October.

In late 2017, the pitches are back in Pitch Perfect 3, the third instalment in Universal's musical franchise starring lovely ladies Anna Kendrick, Rebel Wilson, Brittany Snow and Hailee Steinfeld. And although we still don't know much about the next film in this aca-awesome series quite just yet, it's pretty much a given that it will be a vocal extravaganza and we'll be singing the tunes for years to come.

The sequel shimmies into theatres at the end of the year, ahead of a new batch of comedy movies in 2018.

1. Bastards

  • Release date: December 22, 2017
