(Warning: The following contains giant hulking SPOILERS for Legends of Tomorrow Season 2, albeit ones straight from the mouths of those involved in making it. Proceed with whatever level of caution that suggests to you is wise...)

Now, San Diego Comic-Con is well known as a staging post for the unveiling of major geeky reveals, but some panels are still a little more revelatory than others - and this time around it seems that The CW's Legends of Tomorrow is determined to be a part of the 'more' side of that particular divide. Y'see:

Including both the unveiling of next season's 'big bad', the return of a certain beloved character, and a whole lot more...

We Know Exactly Who'll Be In The Show's Justice Society

Namely Vixen (as played by Maisie Richardson-Sellers, in a distinct role to the Vixen we've already met), Commander Steel, Obsidian, Stargirl and Dr. Mid-Nite, alongside the previously announced Hourman (Patrick J. Adams). Which, for comic-book fans, looks set to be a pleasantly old-school line-up - but also one that is sure to offer some intriguing new characters for fans who fell for DC's comics via the show. As Executive Producer Phil Klemmer put it:

"Even the heroes have heroes... For us, the JSA is like the golden age generation of superheroes. For our team, it’s like a bunch of modern people meeting that greatest generation. If ours is a family, it’s like getting to meet your [grandparents] and realizing they were real superheroes."

Mayor Oliver Queen Will Turn Up In The Pilot

He won't, however, be the only famous face to return during season two, with Damien Darhk due to reappear, and Jonah Hex set for a role in episode six. With the show's cast already having been fleshed out with the newly arrived JSA (and, notably, Nick Zano's Citizen Steel, not to be confused with the JSA's Commander Steel), it seems we aren't going to lack for action - or interpersonal relationships - in season two.

We're About To See TV's First Supervillain Team

Specifically, the legendary arch-foe grouping The Legion of Doom is on its way to the CW, and a role as Legends of Tomorrow's 'big bad(s)'. Matt Letscher will return as Eobard Thawne alongside Neal McDonough's Damien Darhk and John Barrowman's Malcolm Merlyn. That, though, isn't all - with the villainous team's most exciting addition being none other than... Wentworth Miller as Captain Cold.

His return as a villain - while sure to be both fan-pleasing and intriguing in terms of the show's plot - seems likely to throw Sara 'White Canary' Lance - who'd grown close to Cold - for one hell of a loop. And let's not even get started on what Mick Rory's going to say...

The big question now, though?

Just how the heck are we supposed to wait until October 13 to find out more about what happens?
