The entertainment industry's obsession with nostalgia continues as Mystery Science Theater will receive a reboot. The new season will be available exclusively on Netflix.

Mystery Science Theater 3000 was a comedy show in the late eighties and nineties in which viewers watched a movie along with the characters. The show was set on a space ship and three characters, two robots and one human, watched trashy monster movies and riffed on them.

The reboot has some big stars on board, both in writing roles and on-screen. Original creator Joel Hodgson will have a key role in the running of the show, the revival would not have been possible without him as it was his Kickstarter that funded the new 14 episode season.

Jonah Ray will take on the presenter role, it is great to see a talented comedian get such a big role. Nerdist fans everywhere will rejoice in this news!

Ray will be joined by Felicia Day and Patton Oswalt. Felicia Day has previously starred in shows that combine comedy and geek topics. Patton Oswalt is a huge comedy star and I would not be surprised if he was a fan of the original run of the show.

However, the cast isn't just new faces, there are also previous cast members reprising their original roles. Mary Jo Pehl, Bill Corbett and Kevin Murphy return to rip on B-movie creature features once again.

On the writing team we have Dan Harmon, the mastermind behind the hilarious sitcom: Community. Joining him is Joel McHale who took the lead in the same show. They will be led by head writer Elliot Kalan from The Daily Show.

This information comes courtesy of a report on Deadline, the details were revealed at Comic-Con.
