The '90s are really making a comeback. Fans of the 1991 cult classic The Rockteer will finally get their sequel thanks to an NBA powerfoward and NFL center. Yup, you read that right, folks - LA Clippers Blake Griffin and Carolina Panthers Ryan Kalil’s production company Mortal Media will make it happen. They'll have help from The Jungle Book producer Brigham Taylor, and the dynamic duo of Max Winkler and Matt Spicer (The Ceremony) to write the script. The overseers of the entire project are recently promoted Disney EVP Tendo Nagenda and Chaz Salembier as first reporter by THR July 28, 2916.

The film will take place some time after the original.

"Set six years after the original Rocketeer and after Secord has vanished while fighting the Nazis, an unlikely new hero emerges: a young African-American female pilot, who takes up the mantle of Rocketeer in an attempt to stop an ambitious and corrupt rocket scientist from stealing jet-pack technology in what could prove to be a turning point in the Cold War.”

If you haven't guessed it already, I'm so excited that I have my Top 3 choices to take on this role as the new jet pack wearing hero!

Nathalie Emmanuel - Game of Thrones, Furious 7, Maze Runner

Nathalie was a screen grabber when she first debuted on Game of Thrones. She had a quietly strong presence as the slave Missandei, the translator for Astapor who was rescued by the Mother of Dragons.

Her character has slowly developed into a silently strong empowered handmaiden and advisor to the queen. Someone in LA took notice because we got to see Nathalie in a Hollywood blockbuster, Furious 7. We saw her as the sexy hacker Ramsey who happened to be the creator of Gods Eye.

I can spew on about her talent, but it's a bonus is that she’s recently expressed interest in playing a superhero for Disney. In Maze Runner: Scotch Trials, she got down and dirty as Harriet, the leader of a female group who escaped from Maze B. What more does she have to do? Lets make this woman a hero, Disney!

Kat Graham - The Vampire Diaries

I’m a CW fanatic so unless you watch The Vampire Diaries or follow this hottie on Instagraam, chances are you don’t know her. Kat Graham doesn’t have much to talk about as far as the big screen, but as Bonnie Bennett on the CW’s Vampire Diaries she’s proven over and over again that she’s very talented.

Unfortunately, she’s being bottled up on the supernatural teen drama, which will sadly, but justifiably come to an end after eight seasons. The Rocketeer could be her breakout role.

Gugu Mbatha-Raw - Belle, Beyond the Lights, Concussion, Free State of Jones

Belle was a role that she absolutely destroyed as Dido Elizabeth Belle I would talk about the role a bit more, but I’ll let you see for yourself.

Since I didn’t see Belle until recently, for me Beyond the Lights was her breakout performance. She killed it as Noni Jean having to wear two faces; one as a mega sex symbol singer bound for greatness, the other as a young woman mentally drowning under the pressure of success.

In Concussion, she played the role of a stronger more mature woman less needy of a hero, Prema Mutiso. The real life portrayal of Kenya born wife of CTE researcher Bennet Omalu was another example of how great she is. Disney obviously already digs her, as they have this beauty locked down in the live-action adoption of Beauty and the Beast as Plumette (2017) why not have her as The Rocketeer?

Who do you think should be the new Rocketeer?
