Ocean's Eleven is a that rare Hollywood beast: an original and a remake which both became classics. Recently, news broke that there would be an all-female reboot of the series with quite a stellar cast! The likes of Cate Blanchett, Rihanna, Sandra Bullock and Mindy Kaling have all been announced for the star-studded film. For more on the all-female reboot check out the articles below!

In light of this recent news, I wanted to have fun with the topic of Ocean's Eleven, and it got me thinking: what would the 2001 cast have been like if the movie was made in 2016? It's been a full fifteen years since the 2001 remake, and the Hollywood landscape has shifted considerably. These are the stars of 2016 who I think would be perfect for Ocean's Eleven. Let me know what you think of my choices!
The Leader - Leonardo DiCaprio Former Danny Oceans: Frank Sinatra, George Clooney
Every generation has an undeniable 'king of cool', and they don't come much cooler than Frank Sinatra and George Clooney, both of whom have taken on the role of Danny Ocean. Leonardo DiCaprio is definitely on par with George Clooney. He is arguably the most universally adored actor in the world right now and hot off his Oscar win, he'll be eager to do some passion projects. Let's just hope he'd be keen to replicate his vibe from The Great Gatsby, and look slick in a suit with a martini once more.
His next film: The Devil in the White City
The Charmer - Miles Teller
Former Charmers: Dean Martin and Brad Pitt
Miles Teller is one of the hottest properties in Hollywood right now; at the young age of 29, he has a great future ahead of him. His recent acting performances have been hit and miss, with great films such as Whiplash and The Spectacular Now, but also some misses like The Fantastic Four and Two Night Stand. He is an actor who can get away with being cocky and likable at the same time, which is absolutely perfect for this kind of role.
His next film: Thank You for Your Service
The Two Henchmen - Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum
Former Henchmen: Casey Affleck and Scott Caan
In the 2001 Ocean's Eleven, Casey Affleck and Scott Caan's characters were probably the funniest aspect of the film. As a pair, they went undercover and did numerous jobs, such as: blending in as hotel workers, pretending to argue in the casino and pretending to be bodyguards. The fact that the same two people did all the jobs makes for a hilarious running joke in the film. This type of cheesy comedy is why Ocean's Eleven works, and I couldn't think of two better people for this role rather than Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill. The pair have undeniable chemistry, which is incredibly evident in the Jump Street series — watching them get up to mischief is very amusing.
Their next films: The Ballad of Richard Jewell (Jonah Hill) and The Forever War (Channing Tatum)
The Undercover Actor - Michael Caine
Former Undercover Actors: Carl Reiner
One crucial part of the team is to have somebody who can act well and keep their cool under pressure. Michael Caine is one of the most experienced in the business, and he would bring an extra bit of class to the rest of this cast. In the 2001 film, the veteran actor Carl Reiner played the role of the undercover character and nailed it, and I think Caine would be even better!
His next film: Going in Style
The Weapons Expert - Jerrod Carmichael
Former Weapons Expert: Don Cheadle
The Bad Neighbors star is one of the funniest men in Hollywood, and I'm sure as soon as he gets his big break that he'll be everywhere. In Bad Neighbors, it was hilarious whenever his character was under pressure and so seeing him as a weapons and explosives expert would be hilarious.
The Expert Thief - Scott Eastwood
Former Thief: Matt Damon
Matt Damon was a fresh faced actor in Ocean's Eleven; since then, he's become one of Hollywood's biggest stars. He played an expert thief and mastered pick pocketing for the team. Scott Eastwood is a relatively new actor just about to break real fame, I think. He could play a very convincing con-man; add in Eastwood's natural charisma, and you have a great character.
The Rich One - Benicio Del Toro
Former Rich One: Elliott Gould
This character needs to ooze class, crack witty jokes and most importantly, look pretty prestigious. When Benicio Del Toro plays a character like this, he steals every scene. His character in Guardians of The Galaxy, The Collector (above) is one of the most scene-stealing characters in the film. His charm and coolness make him an insanely captivating actor. He would be an awesome addition to this already suave team.
The Tech Dude - Daniel Pudi
Former Tech Dude: Eddie Jemison
Every heist team needs a guy who can crack a computer or hack a server room. Daniel Pudi — who played Abed in the hit TV show Community — is my choice, because he's just such was such an enjoyable TV nerd to watch in Community! He could easily play this part, and it would be cool to see him get a big break on the big screen!
The Negotiator - Terry Crews
Former Negotiators: Bernie Mac
If you have a team of 11 men all doing different jobs, you're going to need at least one negotiator. If somebody is trying to do a deal with you and is acting stubborn, you're going to need somebody like Terry Crews to talk to them. Bernie Mac's Ocean's Eleven character also mastered the art of disguise, which is something I could totally see Terry Crews doing!
Stealth Acrobat - Iko Uwais
Former Stealth Acrobat: Shaobo Qin
This guy was one of the most vital members in the 2001 Ocean's Eleven team, because without him, they wouldn't have even got in the vault! He was incredibly acrobatic and scarily flexible, so choosing a replacement wasn't easy. However, Iko Uwais was so bad-ass in The Raid; I think he'd be able to fill these formidable shoes!
So that's it guys, I had great fun choosing these actors. I know the probability of this film being made is incredibly slim because of the production of Ocean's 8, but it's still fun to speculate! I really think Ocean's 8 could be fantastic, especially if Jennifer Lawrence proves the speculators right and joins the team!
One thing Ocean's 8 will have to nail is the getaway chase sequence. The ladies should look to these movies for some inspiration!
I'd love to hear you're dream team in the comments! Let me know and let's start a discussion.
