Have realised my dream of finally living in Berlin. I like movies, techno, and talking too much in bars.

Scarlett Johansson might be the highest paid female in show-business, thanks to hits such as The Jungle Book, Lucy and the Marvel Franchise, but the famous movie star is notoriously secretive about her personal life, having no Facebook, Twitter or Instagram account to speak of.

By not sharing her life with the public, she has remained all that more wonderfully enigmatic, giving rise to some strange and bizarre rumours about her personal life. For your reading pleasure, here are six things you might not know about the all-singing, all-dancing movie star.

1. She Has Released A Tom Waits Cover Album

You may have seen her singing in that beautiful karaoke scene from Lost In Translation, but did you know she actually released a Tom Waits cover album back in 2008? She was so enamoured with the singer that she decided to add her own dreamy spin on tunes such as "Anywhere I Lay My Head" and "I Wish I Was in New Orleans". The album was released to mixed praise. We shall see her reprise her singing abilities in the upcoming, and aptly-titled Sing.

2. Her First Film Was Really, Really Terrible

Her acting career began in 1994 with North, a film about a young boy who travels the world in search of new parents. It was heavily criticised for playing into racist and xenophobic tropes, inspiring critic Roger Ebert to famously write:

"I hated this movie. Hated hated hated hated hated this movie. Hated it. Hated every simpering stupid vacant audience-insulting moment of it."

It currently sports a rating of 4.4 on IMDB. This initial failure didn't discourage Johansson who would star in Home Alone 3 a mere three years later.

3. She Starred In Two Movies With Chris Evans Before The Avengers

Scarlett has appeared in not just one, but two movies with fellow avenger Chris Evans before the Avenger franchise. Their first outing together was A Perfect Score in 2004 where the two of them play high schoolers who team up in order to steal the questions to their SAT exams. They were later thrown together romantically in The Nanny Diaries where their relationship complicates her chaotic new job. In these two they were seen to have real chemistry, making it a no brainer for Scarlett to be cast as Black Widow.

4. She Was Pregnant During Age Of Ultron

During the filming of Age Of Ultron Johansson was heavily pregnant with her first child. Given Marvel's exhaustive slate, they simply couldn't halt filming so a combination of CGI, three near-identical stunt doubles and a lot of shooting from the waist up was used in order to hide her bump. She was so far along in fact that she gave birth to a healthy daughter a mere month after filming was wrapped up.

5. She Blurred The Lines Between Fiction And Documentary Filming Under The Skin

Scarlett Johansson, more than any other working actress, has a seamless ability to move between indie roles and big-budget extravaganzas, alternating between big roles such as Lucy with smaller and more experimental films such as Her. For her cult classic Under The Skin, she worked with director Jonathan Glazer in order to create a new type of cinema, expertly blurring the lines between fiction and documentary.

In this film she plays a visitor from outer space who picks up random men off the street in order to submerge them in liquid. With the use of secret cameras, these pick-ups would be filmed with unsuspecting members of the public, many of whom didn't recognise her, and were only later told they were starring in a science-fiction movie. This gave the film an oddly unsettling quality, and led to one of the most highly acclaimed performances of her career.

6. She Nearly Crashed Her Car After Being Distracted By Her Own Cleavage

Whilst driving around in L.A. Scarlett Johansson was so surprised at how digitally enhanced her breasts were on a poster for The Island that she nearly crashed her car. As she said:

"I screamed and slammed on the brakes, I couldn't believe it. It's very strange to see my cleavage the size of a brontosaurus."

Luckily for her and for us, the Lost in Translation star wasn't seriously injured, and has gifted us in the past ten years with hits such as Vicky Christina Barcelona, Hail Caesar! and Her.
