Back in 2014 it was the ice bucket challenge, but now there's a brand new social media trend sweeping our news feeds for a great cause: the 22 pushup challenge. You might have noticed the challenge popping up online, but if you haven't heard of this great use of social media, here's the run down:
Each day, on average, 22 veterans commit suicide. Obviously this number is ridiculously high, and highlights a real issue with the amount of support that members of the military receive after they leave the armed forces. The idea of the 22 pushup challenge is to raise awareness of this alarmingly high statistic, but also show support for veterans.
The organization 22KILL is behind the 22 pushup challenge, and have set a goal of reaching 22 million pushups, "to honor those who serve and to raise awareness for veteran suicide prevention through education and empowerment." So far 22KILLS reports over 7 million pushups have been completed, but thanks to the movement being noticed by celebrities, the challenge will surely soon meet its goal.
Take a look at some of the celebrities who have taken up this brilliant challenge to raise awareness for veterans so far:
After being issued the challenge by Twitter use Will Dodge, Chris Pratt was joined by his wife Anna Faris in being among the first celebs to complete the push up challenge. Not only did the pair put their muscles on the line, but they also gave their thanks and full support to the members of the military who serve America.
Happy, Beau and Vincent D'Onofrio took on Chris Pratt's challenge, finishing with ease and nominating a whole bunch of celebrity friends.
Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson
Following on from Chris Pratt's lead, The Rock smashed the challenge with some help from an adorable friend, before calling out several more celeb buddies - and if I were friends with Dwayne Johnson, I wouldn't even think about saying no:
After Chris Pratt put out the call, John Krasinski answered, and nailed the challenge, complete with a little smack talking to his adorable dog Finn.

Answering The Rock's summon, Houston Texans' defensive end, J.J. Watt immediately jumped on board, also introducing his video with a heartfelt message to all veterans.
Rising to the challenge laid down by John Krasinski, Captain America a.k.a Chris Evans took on the 22 push up challenge, but not without a little interference from his furry friend.
Following the lead of his Fast 8 costar, Scott Eastwood was quick to show off his skills, along with the thoughtful addition of the phone number for the suicide prevention hotline.
Making this a whole cast affair, Ludacris is the latest member of the Fast 8 family to take on the challenge, and he did it with a huge audience behind him during a performance at the Coleman Coliseum at the University of Alabama!
Candace Cameron Bure
The Fuller House star frequently posts pics and videos while pumping iron at the gym, and with a cause so worthy it's not surprise to see her amongst the first to jump on board and support the challenge.
