Well my children, it is that time of year once again. The time when we leave the beach and head to the classroom. In honor of this, I have decided to put together a list (in no particular order) of the most horrifying, entertaining and blood curdling school-set horror films. So sharpen your pencils, take off your hat, sit up straight, and get ready to take some notes...

10. Graduation Day (1981)

A masked killer begins murdering students on a school track team after a track runner dies upon completion of a race.

9. Buffy The Vampire Slayer (1992)

A flightly teenage girl learns that she is her generation's destines battler of vampires. She has to balance homework, the dance and, of course, battling vampires.

Extra Credit: I also recommend that you check out the series of the same name. All hail Buffy!

8. Prom Night (1980/2008)

Dance the night away with the original classic, starring the ultimate scream queen Jamie Lee Curtis, or the remake with Pitch Perfect's Brittany Snow. In the remake, Donna's senior prom is supposed to be the best night of her life, though a sadistic killer from her past has different plans for her and her friends.

7. The Craft (1996)

A newcomer to a catholic prep high school falls in the with a trio of outcast teenage girls who practice witchcraft and they all soon conjure up various spells and curses against those who even slightly anger them.

6. Scream (1996)

Sidney, attempting to cope with her mother's mysterious murder, and her horror movie-obsessed friends are stalked by an unknown killer who seems to have a hard time letting the past go. This classic horror flick follows the group of teens in high school.

Extra Credit: Check out the sequel, Scream 2, to follow Sidney in college.

5. Return to Nuke'em High (2013)

The film follows a young couple that are up against the school glee club. Unfortunately, the glee club has mutated into a gang called The Cretins... things are about to get slimy.

4. Slaughter High (1986)

Eight different people are invited to their old high school for their ten-year reunion where a fellow former student, disfigured from a prank gone wrong, is out to seek revenge.

3. Sorority Row (2009)

A group of sorority sisters try to cover up the death of their house-sister after a prank gone wrong, only to be stalked by a serial killer. This flick has a fun graduation vibe and an entertaining twist ending.

2. Urban Legend (1998)

Before Jared Leto was the Joker in Suicide Squad, he had to survive college. A group of students experience a series of bizarre deaths which are connected to certain urban legends.

Extra Credit: The sequel, Urban Legends: Final Cut, follows the same formula for a group of film students. I actually prefer the sequel over the original.

1. Carrie (1978/2013)

I think everyone has at least seen the infamous pig blood scene at Carrie's prom. The film follows a sheltered girl who unleashes her telekinetic terror on the school bullies. Don't mess with Carrie!

Well that's all kids! I hope you were paying attention for a pop quiz! Just kidding... but seriously what are some of your favorite school-set horror flicks? Leave your answer on the chalk-board below!
