Hollywood might be dominated by superhero movies and franchise features, but thankfully the world of indie film's here to provide cinephiles with a welcome change of pace. And you couldn't get further from the norm than director Jim Hoskins's The Greasy Strangler. The horror-comedy made its world premiere in the 2016 Sundance Film Festival Midnight Section, and its first full trailer was released earlier today. Thankfully, the trailer is an insane ride filled with sex, violence, father/son bonding and matching pink outfits — all rated G for "greasy."
The feature stars Sky Elobar as Big Brayden, a son who works with father Big Ronnie (Michael St. Michaels) giving disco-themed walking tours of Los Angeles. But when the alluring Janet (Elizabeth De Razzo) comes to take one of their tours, a competition begins between the pair to win her affections. Her arrival also happens to coincide with the appearance of an oily, monstrous killer who stalks the streets of L.A. strangling innocent bystanders — the titular "Greasy Strangler."
The Greasy Strangler is clearly poised to be one of 2016's craziest offerings, a midnight movie that combines oddball humor, graphic violence and over-the-top sex rarely seen on screen. Don't believe us? Here's a trailer breakdown to prove just how wild this movie is.
"Stop talking to the customer and help Dad with his shorts!"
The trailer opens on the moment Big Brayden meets Janet, though as we quickly learn Big Ronnie's forbidden his boy from getting married. It's a sweet opening to the trailer, but we get a quick flash of the film's vile humor when we see Brayden having phone sex with Janet. The pair's meeting is interrupted by Ronnie's bare ass, and thankfully this won't be the only naked butt you see in the movie.
Braydon And Janet Hook Up
Naturally, Brayden jumps at the opportunity to to hook up with a hot babe and starts banging Janet. This gives us a great glimpse at the movies silly gross-out jokes, with Janet telling her new beau mid-hook up to, "imagine if I farted now." Now that's something we all wanted to think about, right?
Ronnie's Also Banging Janet
Every good romance needs some opposition, so it's only fitting for Ronnie to start banging his son's main squeeze. We can't blame Janet for hooking up with the old man. C'mon, after so many years you'd imagine he has a lot of experience. And those flowing white locks are super sexy. The betrayal cleary heightens tensions between father and son, especially since Braydon believes Ronnie is the Greasy Strangler.

The Greasy Strangler Strikes
Finally, we get our first good look at the Greasy Strangler, and it seems like Braydon's suspicions may be right. The monster bears a striking resemblance to Ronnie, but is way more brutal. The film's violence looks like a mix between a cartoony Looney Tunes style and gory horror movies, giving the flick a unique touch.
The Monster Comes Clean
After the Strangler cleans up at the car wash, we finally see that the monster is in fact Ronnie. Though we suspect there's something more going on. After all, it'd be kinda lame to reveal who the killer is in the trailer for the movie. The only thing we know for certain is Ronnie has a massive (prosthetic?) penis.
The Greasy Strangler combines the uncomfortable comedy we've seen from the likes of Adult Swim favorites Tim & Eric and indie legend John Waters with crazy horror violence, a combo that definitely won't work for everyone. But we give Hoskins and his team major credit for creating something unique. If you're down for a weird and wild movie, you'll definitely want to watch this one.
The Greasy Strangler hits theaters and on-demand on October 7. Are you excited for this eye-popping horror-comedy? Let us know in the comments below.
