Warning: Spoilers for Supernatural ahead. Read at your own risk.
Supernatural fans rejoice! The ongoing adventures of monster hunters Sam and Dean Winchester will return to the CW next month with the Season 12 premiere, promising even more exciting adventures from the dynamic sibling duo.
We're pretty excited for the season premiere, especially considering the end of last season. By the close of Season 11 God had revealed himself, Sam might be dead and the Winchesters's mother has been brought back to life. And those are only some of the things that happened this season. We have a lot of questions going into the next season, so here's 12 questions we need answered in Supernatural Season 12.
1. What Happened To Sam?
Fans will recall that in the Season 11 finale, we see a Toni (a Men of Letters member from the London chapter) shooting at Sam. But we don't know if Sam was actually shot or if her shot was just a warning. He could be shot and killed, but that doesn't mean he's dead for good. We know actor Jared Padalecki is back as Sam for Season 12, but the shooting could lead to a unique storyline bringing him back from the dead.
2. What Happens When Sam And Dean Meet The Men Of Letters?
Before the Toni shoots at Sam, she tells him that the Men of Letters have been monitoring the Winchesters's exploits. And after they nearly destroyed the world, the mysterious group's decided to bring them in. But are they going to be imprisoned, trained or banned from hunting? Only one thing's certain — when Dean finds out someone shot at his baby brother, someone's going to get hurt.
3. Will The Winchesters's Mother Go Back To Hunting?
Because of the good deed that Dean did for Amara (a.k.a. the Darkness) and her brother God, Amara brought back Sam and Dean's mother Mary back from the dead. And as fans know, Mary used to be a hunter. She might leave the hunting to her sons, but could she get back in business now that she's alive?
4. Who's Really Behind The Men Of Letters?
Wait, wait, wait, weren’t the Men of Letters all gone? Considering the plethora of things they had their hands in, it's not shocking that they would have more than just the Kentucky chapter that was first introduced. This group has been around longer than we know about, and Season 12 needs to dive deep into its history and who's really leading the organization.
5. Where Were The Men Of Letters All This Time?
It's pretty shocking that while Sam and Dean were hunting monsters, stopping the Apocalypse and saving the world, the Men of Letters just sat on their hands. The Men form a powerful group with tons of supernatural info at their fingertips, and it looks like they did nothing while the world kept going to Hell. If they were good enough to keep tabs on the Winchesters, then why didn’t they ever step in when the world was in danger? What have they been up to all this time?

6. Will God Reign In Heaven Again?
After everything that's happened, will God go back to Heaven and set things back to the way they were? As we saw last season, God had basically set out to be a lazy bum. He gave up his job as ruler of the world to write a crappy book about his life and completely ignored his responsibilities as father to both humans and angels. Oh, and speaking of angels …
7. Will The Angels Accept God's Return?
The angels have spent years at war, killing one another trying to find their way after God abandoned them. There's no guarantee that the angels of Heaven are just going to forgive and forget. And they might turn on God upon his return.
8. What's Next For Amara?
God's sister Amara had been locked away for so long that she doesn't really have a place in the world. And it doesn't help that she's spent tons of time consuming the souls of humans and demons whlie trying to get the attention of her brother. Basically, Amara is going to be lost. She may have left Earth with her brother, but it will take some time before she finds her own way. We need to see what happens to her next.
9. Where Is Lucifer?
Amara ripped Lucifer from his vessel (Castiel), but where did he go? There's no way that Lucifer would have been killed that easy, even by God's sister. That means Lucifer is out of his cage and possibly looking to reinvent himself.
10. Will Lucifer Reign in Hell?
Lucifer's probably licking his wounds somewhere with a giant chip on his shoulder. But when he's back at full power you have to wonder whether or not he'll head back to Hell. Not only was he good at being Hell's ruler, but he enjoyed it. With his return, things might go back to normal for Heaven and Hell.
11. What's Next For Castiel?
Castiel is a giant wildcard here. He knows that something happened to Sam and will probably be the one to break the news to Dean and his mother. After that, will he go back and serve God in Heaven? Or will he continue to be part of the Winchester clan and help them protect the world? Castiel has bounced around and done so much since his first appearance in Season 4, and Season 12 could see him finally find his place.
12. What's Up With Rowena?
Old, conniving, slick, powerful and one of Supernatural's greatest characters. Of course, I'm talking about none other than Rowena. There's no way she's learned any lessons about being a good person, even after helping stop the end of the world. But is she going to lay low or will she keep searching for more and more power? We expect to find that out in Season 12.
As a fan of the show, I really hope it goes on forever. Supernatural consistently responds to fan demand perfectly, keeping us hooked season after season. And it's even made Sam and Dean Winchester remain pop culture icons. The show's been on TV for a long time, but we have no doubt that Season 12 will be another winner.
Supernatural Season 12 premieres on the CW on October 13. What do you want to see next season? Let me know in the comments.
