Have realised my dream of finally living in Berlin. I like movies, techno, and talking too much in bars.

After five long years, the fifth installment of the Underworld franchise is nearly upon us, with the release of Underworld: Blood Wars pegged for January 6. In anticipation of Selene's return to take on both the Lycan and the Vampire clans who have betrayed her, Screen Gems and Lakeshore Entertainment have released four new posters for the film, featuring some familiar faces as well as a new antagonist. Check out the awesome trailer below:

At the end of the last film, 2012's Underworld: Awakening, Michael was on the run, with Selene and her daughter vowing to find him before the Lycans do. Filmed in Prague, we can expect Blood Wars to be the most epic showdown yet in the seemingly unending Lycan/Vampire war. Let's take a look at the actors behind the characters, and why we should be excited about a new Underworld movie in 2017.

Kate Beckinsale As Selene

Who's Selene?

The woman behind the entire franchise, Selene was the lead protagonist in all but one film, the prequel installment Underworld: Rise of the Lycans. She starts the series as a Death Dealer who hunts Lycans out of revenge for the murder of her family. Falling in love with vampire/Lycan hybrid Michael, they engage in constant battle until Awakening, where the humans learn of the existence of both species and pledge to wipe them out. After surviving that whole ordeal, Seline's husband Michael remains on the run, so assumedly she will try to find him in the hope of stoping the never-ending war between Vampires and Lycans.

Protect the bloodline.

Who's Kate Beckinsale?

Starting her career in British period dramas such as Emma and Cold Comfort Farm, Beckinsale had her big break in Michael Bay's 2001 extravaganza Pearl Harbor before her critically acclaimed turn in the Martin Scorsese-directed Howard Hughes biopic The Aviator. Yet the Underworld franchise remains her most lucrative product, having so far raked in close to $500 million at the box office.

Describing her role as Selene, Beckinsale has said:

"It’s like putting your wedding dress on, or putting your school uniform on, it’s like a time-warp feeling."

Charles Dance As Thomas

Who's Thomas?

First introduced in Underworld: Awakening, Thomas is a vampire who betrays Selene by offering her daughter Eve to the Lycans. His reasoning is that in doing so, the Lycans, who want Eve's Hybrid blood for an antidote, will leave the Vampires alone. This sets up tension between Thomas and Seline in the upcoming film. He is the father of David, who will also appear in Blood Wars.

What's His Tagline?

Prepare for battle.

Who's Charles Dance?

Perhaps best known for his role as Tywin Lannister in Game of Thrones, Dance first gained major attention as Guy Perron in the highly acclaimed British miniseries The Jewel in the Crown. Usually typecast as either a bureaucrat or a villain, his most famous roles include Sardo Numspa in The Golden Child, assassin Benedict in Last Action Hero, and the Master Vampire in Dracula Untold.

Theo James As David

Who's David?

Son of Thomas, David is a young vampire who we see tracking Selene in Underworld: Awakening. In the fight against the Lycans, David dies, but is resurrected by Selene. He will return in Blood Wars as her protégé, appearing in the trailer to play a crucial part in the ongoing war between the clans.

Who's Theo James?

Making his debut in the middling Woody Allen film You Will Meet A Tall Dark Stranger, James soon became a Hollywood fixture after starring in the insanely popular Divergent Series, which has grossed more than $750 million worldwide. He also played the lead role in the short-lived CBS TV series Golden Boy.

Tobias Menzies As Marius

Who's Marius?

The new leader of the Lycans, we can see from the trailer that he is a man not to be messed with, able to commandeer a battalion of troops and gifted with insane fighting abilities, going toe to toe with Selene herself. Will he be her toughest challenge yet?

What's His Tagline?

Fight for power.

Who's Tobias Menzies?

Somewhat of an HBO regular, Menzies is an accomplished Shakespearean actor best known for playing Brutus in Rome and for appearing alongside Charles Dance in Game of Thrones as Edmure Tully. He has also appeared in stellar British fare such as Casino Royale and Atonement.

Underworld: Blood Wars will be at New York Comic Con on October 7, 2016, where fans will have the chance to receive an exclusive limited edition poster. Underworld: Blood Wars will hit cinema screens on January 6, 2017.
