This teaser done its job by grabbing a viewers attention. When the film was initially announced its reboot, I was a bit worried we would have another Turbo: A Power Rangers Movie. After seeing this trailer, I'm all in. There is some very intriguing story details and minor character development that we see. I absolutely loved this teaser, but there are some other things that stand out in this teaser that needs discussing!

4. Focusing On Common Teenager Life

This trailer focused a lot on normal, teenager issues and conflicts. We open up with a tiny bit of dialogue between Jason and his dad, as a result of Jason getting in some sort of trouble - now having to go to school on the weekends to graduate school. It seems like their setting every Ranger up by applying different, unique real-life issues we encounter everyday, and I think that's awesome. It'll be interesting to see how much they will apply this to the film.

3. Their Powers

One of the coolest things about this teaser, was that they gave us a "superhero" feel to the film. In the original MMPR season, they didn't really focus on their powers, but it was always mentioned. The Power Rangers are superheroes, and I think it was really cool to show us them jumping over great distances and gave us a bit of a tease on their strength. It also makes sense they would do this because of the superhero genre and how popular it has become over the last eight years. From a marketing standpoint, I think it's genius that they would apply this and really focus on that, showing us that they are superheroes.

2. The Tone Is Much Darker Than Expected

In the MMPR days, the target audience was for young children. We've heard rumors that this film will target a different audience, however I didn't realize how dark this could be. I'm not saying there's going to be Rated-R violence, but it does make sense to add a grittier tone to the film - due to where modern culture is today. Adding a darker tone to the film does justice to both fans of the show, and hopefully, new audiences.

1. A Much Darker Rita Repulsa

Rita Repulsa was very intriguing as a villain in MMPR, but also quite annoying. Her maniacal laugh was a little too much, but after seeing this trailer, I think she'll be a fantastic villain. I know we only got a couple seconds of her, but when she stated that killed Rangers before was just fantastic and what a great line. From what we got, I'm very intrigued and look forward to what Elizabeth Banks has in store for us - being in her first villain role.

Overall Thoughts

As I stated earlier, this teaser blew me away. As a huge fan of the original series, I was a bit worried and wasn't going to give me hopes up, but this trailer switched that for me. Was it the best teaser trailer? No, not really, but I believe it done it's job if it changed my mind on getting hyped for the film. I wish we got to see a glimpse of the Zords or even hear the voice of Zordon, but again, this was just a teaser and I'm pretty sure we'll get more exciting footage when the official trailer drops in a couple months.

What are your thoughts on the trailer? Are you excited to see the film? Did this trailer change your initial thoughts on the film? Let us know in the comments!
