Underworld: Blood Wars is still a few months away from premiering, but fans are already gearing up to see Selene (Kate Beckinsale) in what appears to be her last outing in the Underworld franchise. Nothing has been said of Beckinsale leaving the franchise, but with Blood Wars looking to end the ongoing conflict between Vampires and Lycans, which began in Underworld: Rise Of The Lycans, it's possible the Underworld story come to an end after Blood Wars concludes.

However, with several new villains joining the Underworld universe in Blood Wars, one of the newly introduced villains could have a larger role to play in the saga of films if it continues beyond Underworld: Blood Wars.

We already know Marius is the new leader of the Lycan (werewolf) clan and is on a mission to attain Selene's blood for some formula to immortality, but there's another villain who has yet to be revealed — and she could very well be an even bigger baddie: the Vampire Semira.

Lara Pulver is the actress portraying Semira in Underworld: Blood Wars. Semira wasn't seen in the teaser trailer, but in the newest trailer, she makes an appearance in several very subtle screenshots, which add some context to the mysterious character and what nefarious plans she has in mind.

Within the screenshots, we can see Semira ogling over blood and talking boastfully of becoming the most powerful vampire in the entire coven. Meaning that Semira seeks to empower herself with abilities beyond a Vampire and she'll need Selene's blood to do so. And from the sound of Semira in the trailer, she's willing to do anything to get a taste of Selene's blood.

As to how far Semira will go to attain Selene's blood is undetermined at the moment, but since Semira can be seen drinking out of a vat of blood in the new trailer, and the vein markings on her back in another screenshot are indicative of a transformation taking place, it's very likely that Semira will capture Selene and drain her of blood — in order to empower herself with Selene's exceptional abilities.

It appears as though Semira will present herself as a challenge to Selene, consuming her blood for the simple satisfaction of becoming even more powerful. We'll just have to wait until 2017 to see how powerful she may become.

What do you think of Semira? Will Semira be the real villain of Underworld: Blood Wars? Leave your thoughts in the comments section below.

Underworld: Blood Wars premieres January 6, 2017.
