It's not like we need much more TV to keep our brains satiated right now — it's fall and TV channels and streaming services are drowning us in new offers. But that could mean it's the perfect time to get excited for something short and sweet, a mini-series with a killer cast that won't require many episodes to draw you in.
So what if I told you HBO was soon to premiere a mini-series starring Reese Witherspoon, Nicole Kidman, Shailene Woodley, Laura Dern, Alexander Skarsgård, Adam Scott, James Tupper and Zoë Kravitz, called Big Little Lies? The story is adapted from Liane Moriarty's best-selling novel of the same name, and directed by Jean-Marc Vallée, the Canadian director behind Wild, which also starred Witherspoon, and Dallas Buyers Club.

Watch The New Trailer For Big Little Lies
Witherspoon, Kidman and Woodley play Celeste, Madeline and Jane, three women living near the ocean who become friends, and share their worries about their husbands and their kids. But what starts out as a comedy about the intertwined lives of these three characters soon turns into a tense drama — I won't tell you what happens in the book, but you can tell from the gunshot in the trailer that it's a major event.
There's love, there's violence, there's friendship and crime; Who doesn't want to see Witherspoon, Kidman and Woodley drown in this drama together? While HBO hasn't set a premiere date yet, we can expect this mini-series sometime in 2017.
