Before Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. began its winter break, the #Marvel series left us with some major plot twists. We found out why Aida was making a human brain and we saw #GhostRider take his uncle Eli to Hell. Additionally, we saw the return of Daisy (Quake) to S.H.I.E.L.D., Jeffrey Mace don the Patriot persona and the commencement of a new chapter for the show, "LMD."
While the show is set to return next month, its winter finale left us wondering what exactly will happen on #AgentsOfSHIELD next? We have a deadly android on the loose and a Spirit of Vengeance missing, so, what is all this leading up to?

Exit Ghost Rider, Enter The Age Of Aida
The first chapter of the Ghost Rider storyline introduced us to Robbie Reyes and the Darkhold, a dangerous mystical book. With Daisy on the run, it didn’t take long for her and Robbie to cross paths. After Robbie discovered that his uncle Eli was deeply involved in the circumstances that led Robbie to becoming the Rider, he and Daisy joined forces and soon were adopted into Coulson’s S.H.I.E.L.D. team.
By episode 8, “Laws of Inferno Dynamics,” Eli had essentially become god-like, but Robbie was successful in dragging him down to Hell. While all of this was transpiring, Dr. Radcliffe with the help of Fitz had created Aida. After she read the Darkhold to open a portal to another dimension, she was corrupted and created an android version of Agent May.
LMDs, Ghost Riders And Demons
We know from recent sneak peaks that Aida will cause havoc when the Season returns next year in January (check out the preview in the video above), but eventually, Coulson and the S.H.I.E.L.D. team will most likely defeat her. It is also a given that Ghost Rider will return sometime near the end of Season 4, and since we know artificial robots "never die", then Aida, or some version of her, will most likely still be around.
So what’s the connection between the Ghost Rider chapter and the LMD chapter?
My theory is that in the coming episodes, the show will keep the audience guessing as to who is a Life Model Decoy and who is human. The team will learn more about the realm of Hell and the #Darkhold via Aida, and when Ghost Rider and Eli finally return, they will bring with them the demon Chthon or Mephisto.
Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. will then enter its darkest phase yet and we'll see the entire team fall to the might of the demon. Of course, the dead team will turn out to be LMDs and then the real team will defeat the demon with the help of Ghost Rider and Eli Morrow.
The LMD chapter will serve as the S.H.I.E.L.D. team’s lesson about the Darkhold. When they defeat evil Aida, they will learn the secrets and origin of the mystical book. It is here that we could also see the return of the Good Samaritan, Johnny Blaze, since the book was originally in his possession, hidden away before being stolen by Lucy and Joseph Bauer.
Is This The Epic Conclusion?
Season 4 of #Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has only begun to get into the meat of its Ghost Rider chapter, but tied up a few storyline threads before the break. The #LMD chapter will begin next year in January and Aida will replace Eli Morrow as the main villain. While this new chapter will concentrate on who is an android and who is human, both chapters will have to ultimately converge by the end of the season.
Will we see Mephisto or Chthon make their first appearance in the #MCU? And will Aida and her LMDs be the key to defeating the powerful demon? Let me know in the comments!
