An unusual hero, and perhaps an unforgettable one, takes center stage in the animated film Sgt. Stubby: An American Hero. The film, inspired by a true story, centers around a brave dog named Stubby, and his owner, a soldier, as they fight together in World War I.
The movie boasts an all-star cast, with #LoganLerman (Percy Jackson & The Olympians, The Perks of Being A Wallflower) #HelenaBonhamCarter (Fight Club, Alice Through The Looking Glass, Terminator: Salvation) and #GérardDepardieu (Life of Pi, Hamlet, 1492: Conquest of Paradise) providing the main voices.
Up until today, there's been very little information about the project, but we finally have our first look at it:
While just a glimpse, the footage gave us a good idea of what to expect from the movie. Great animation, and all the feels thanks to the endearing Stubby. That cast doesn't hurt.
Richard Lanni, who served as both writer and executive producer in the film, had this to say about the project:
“The story of Sgt. Stubby is a universal human tale of an underdog who rises to extraordinary heights as a hero and friend. This unwanted stray finds his best friend and together they survive one of the greatest conflicts in a young nation’s history. It’s a fantastic story for the whole family to experience together.”
We'll be able to see this tale on April 13, 2018. In the meantime, here's the official synopsis from Fun Academy Motion Pictures,
After being rescued off the streets by a young Soldier on the eve of World War I, Stubby is given a home, a family, and the chance to embark on the adventure that would define a century.
For his valor and courage, Stubby is recognized as the first dog promoted to the rank of Sergeant in U.S. Army history.
