After the financial and critical success of Mission: Impossible — Rogue Nation, the unstoppable directing-acting duo ,Tom Cruise and Christopher McQuirre, is back at it again with Mission: Impossible 6. The film boasts an impressive cast consisting of returning players like Simon Pegg, Rebecca Ferguson and Michelle Monaghan, and exciting newcomers like Henry Cavill — and so far, things are looking great.
How would I know that, you ask? Well, because unlike almost all modern blockbusters in-the-making, the film's cast and crew haven't been stingy with cool pictures and sneaky looks at what's coming our way. Fortunately for us, that tradition of cool insight continues, thanks to the man himself.
#TomCruise took to Twitter to announce that the film's production had wrapped on New Zealand. To commemorate the milestone, he also shared this awesome picture of the beloved I.M.F. crew together again:
#RebeccaFerguson, Tom Cruise, #SimonPegg and Ving Rhames as Ilsa Faust, Ethan Hunt, Benji Dunn and Luther Stickell, respectively, together again... Ok, my excitement level is officially through the roof. The Mission: Impossible franchise is known for its rotating cast of characters. Aside from a few returning players here and there, Ethan Hunt depends on a different supporting team for every new movie.
While each new agent has brought something unique and awesome to the franchise, I've been wanting to see a more consistent cast of characters to see grow and get attached to over several films. We're finally getting that.
How Will Tom Cruise Top His Insane Mission: Impossible Stunt Record?
The excitement of seeing the picture got me wondering, Tom Cruise loves his mind-boggling stunts, and the actor's proven he's especially willing to showcase them in the Mission: Impossible franchise. We've seen him crash against a car in Mission: Impossible III, climb the Burj Khalifafrom the outside in Ghost Protocol, cling onto an airplane (again, from the outside) in Rogue Nation.
With those crazy adventures, it's pretty obvious we'll get to see yet another eye-popping stunt for #MissionImpossible6. With that in mind, one has to wonder: Will Tom Cruise top himself for this movie? Yes, yes he will. Speaking in the Graham Norton Show while promoting The Mummy, Cruise revealed he had been training for the scene for months;:
"[I've been training] for a couple of years now for this. It's really crazy, honestly. It's stuff that I've been training for, we've done a lot of testing to see if it's actually possible. There's always another mountain [...] It's gonna be really wild. If we get it, I think it will really thrilling for an audience."
sadly, pulling from his years of training as a secret agent, the actor was careful so as to not let any details slip. But if we look at it the other way, the fact that he's keeping mum about it hints at the sheer awesomeness of the stunt. We'll get to see it once Mission: Impossible 6 hits theaters on July 27, 2018.
What do you think about our new look at Mission: Impossible 6? What do you think Tom Cruise's next stunt will be? Let me know in the comments!
