One of the most anticipated upcoming/ projects for DC fans is Titans. The series based on the popular #DC comics superhero group will launch DC's upcoming streaming site and will mark the first time the Titans are adapted in live-action. So far, we know that Brenton Thwaites will be playing Dick Grayson, Anna Diop is Starfire, Teagan Croft will play Raven and Ryan Potter will be Beast Boy. Alan Ritchson and Minka Kelly are also set to play Hawk and Dove respectively. And now, The Hashtag Show seems to think that several other superheroes will be joining the fun.
The New Titans
The site has gotten ahold of four character descriptions for the #TV show, which are as follows.
[DANIEL CROSS]Male, 17-19, Caucasian. Athletic, street smart, cocky, yet charming. His life is changed forever when he crosses a crime fighter and is given a new outlet for his rebellious ways. RECURRING GUEST STAR.
[JENNIFER ANDREWS]Female, 20s/30s, Caucasian. Small town, Midwestern girl gone to Hollywood, Jennifer is a star on the rise. She comes across a doe-eyed, All-American and naive in her approach to her art, and life. Jennifer emulates the classic girl-next-door actors from the 1940s and 50s. A bit Stepford-y in her thinking and appearance, Jennifer feels like a woman out of time. RECURRING GUEST STAR.
[CAROLINE]Female, 40s, Caucasian. Forever sleepless with worry, she’s the mother to a young, troubled teen. Seeking a recognizable cameo face or name. GUEST STAR.
[THE MESSENGER]Male, 50s-60s, Open ethnicity. Outwardly a warm and kind presence, he doesn’t seem the type to be powerful or malicious. But he has the ability to turn on a dime and be the most terrifying man you have ever met. Seeking offer only names/recognizable faces…RECURRING GUEST STAR.
The Hashtag Show believes that characters Daniel Cross and Jennifer Andrews are actually casting calls for Titans' versions of Roy Harper (Arsenal) and Rita Farr (Elasti-Girl). Although their report is purely speculative, the website was the first to reveal the casting calls previously for the other characters of #Titans so there may be some truth to it.
A New DC Universe
Although Rita Farr was mentioned in the CW series, #TheFlash, she has yet to be adapted in live-action. Titans will be an excellent platform for the introduction of Farr given that she's been a prominent part of #TeenTitans comics for quite some time. Roy Harper has been played in live-action only once, again in the Arrowverse continuity by Colton Haynes. The actor played Arsenal on #Arrow for three seasons, after which he has reprised his role once again in the series' fourth season. Haynes is set to return to the Green Arrow series once again in Season 6.
If this report does turn out to be accurate it will be a bittersweet feeling for DC TV fans as it would mean that DC would now have yet another universe in motion. While it's unlikely we'll get an Arrowverse crossover, it's highly likely that other future shows on the digital streaming site will be set in the Titansverse. Let's just hope that Titans honestly portrays these characters when it brings them to life.
What's your take, fellow DC fan? Would you want to see a new Arsenal?
